  • How Will I Find My Driver

For all arrivals, we ask you to make your way to the Getaway Vans check-in desk, which can be found just to the left of the lime green Tekoe tea shop in the arrivals hall.

  • Do I Need A Ticket?

Your email confirmation is your ticket so please bring this with you when you travel. It also contains our contact details should you experience any problems or need to get in touch with us prior to your return transfer.

  • How Long Will I Have to Wait to Leave the Airport?

If you have booked a private transfer you will leave the airport as soon as all the members of your group have arrived. For a shared transfer you may have to wait up to 45 minutes in Geneva, although the waiting time is usually around 20 minutes.

  • What Happens if I Can’t Find my Driver?

In some cases, your driver may have been delayed due to circumstances beyond our control. If this happens, we will text or call you to let you know. If you haven’t received a message, please contact us on +33 (0) 64 03 22 184 and we will let you know exactly where your driver is.

  • What Happens If My Flight Is Delayed?

Our driver will wait if your flight is delayed by less than an hour. If your delay is longer than this, in order to keep to the rest of our transfer schedule, we will pick you up in the next available minibus at no extra charge.

  • How Will my Driver Know Where my Accommodation is?

Getaway Vans operates a door-to-door transfer service from Geneva, so your driver will be given the address you provided at the time of booking. All our drivers have excellent knowledge of the area, but to avoid any confusion, it’s advisable to carry contact details of your accommodation should any directions need clarification.

Booking

  • How Do I Book A Transfer

It’s really easy to book an airport transfer with Getaway Vans, simply fill in your details and follow the instructions on screen. Please provide as much detail as possible when you book. This includes your flight details, the full address of your accommodation, name of the company you’re staying with, your mobile phone number (in case we need to contact you during your journey) and any other special requirements.

  • Are There Any Luggage Restrictions

As Getaway Vans runs transfers between Geneva Airport and different ski resorts, we are fully prepared for lots of large bags and we use long wheel based vehicles to accommodate ski and snowboard equipment. However, please note on your booking form if you intend to carry more than one sports equipment bag and one general luggage bag; we cannot guarantee space for all passengers’ luggage if you are bringing more than this.

  • How Do I Amend My Booking?

To amend your booking, simply log in the Getaway Vans website using the details provided in your confirmation email and from there, you’ll be able to view and manage all of your bookings.

For any last minute changes please contact us via phone on +33 (0) 64 03 22 184. Please note that we may be unable to accommodate certain changes requested less than 48 hours before your travel date.

  • I’m Staying in Avoriaz, What Shall I Write as my Resort Address?

It’s up to you whether you would like to be driven up to Avoriaz or take the Prodain cable car. Your accommodation provider may advise you of the best choice. Please ensure the cable car will be open prior to booking as this will be your drop-off and pick-up location.

The Prodain cable car is open:

    7am – 9pm Monday to Friday

7am – midnight Friday and Saturday

    7am – 10pm on Sunday

If you have selected Avoriaz as your destination, your driver will drop you off at the Tourist Information Office as Avoriaz is a car-free resort and this is as far as we can drive. It is your responsibility to reach your accommodation from this point. However, if you’re staying in Residence l’Amara we will drop you off at the spa reception in the car park.

  • Can my Drop-Off and Pick-Up Location be different?

Yes, this is no problem, just write your alternative drop-off or pick-up location in the ‘notes’ section of the online booking form.

  • Do You Provide Car Seats for Babies and Children?

Yes, at Getaway Vans we provide baby and child seats free of charge. There is a section in the online booking form where you can add how many baby or child seats you will need.

We use two types of child seats: standard baby seats for children weighing between 0 and 18kg with a five-point harness, and booster seats for older children. We also have a limited number of high-back booster seats. All our drivers have been trained to fit both front and rear facing baby seats.

Of course, you’re welcome to bring your own child seat if you’d prefer.

Please note that we recommend the use of child seats for all children below 135cm or 12 years old. If you’re not sure what kind of seat your child will need, please write their height and weight in the ‘notes’ section of the online booking form so we can make an informed decision.

  • We are a Large Group and are Arriving at Different Times. What Should we do?

This depends how you wish to travel. If you all want to travel together and wait in Geneva Airport for the last member of the party, put the arrival time of the latest flight as the arrival time for the entire group and you will all leave the airport together. However, it’s really important that you write the flight details of the rest of the group in the ‘notes’ section of the online booking form so we can keep track of everyone’s flight. If you want to leave the airport as soon as possible then we recommend that you book individual transfers and meet at your destination.

The same applies for your return transfer; if you all wish to leave the resort together then please select the earliest flight departure time for the whole group so we can ensure everyone is at the airport in plenty of time for their flights.

  • What Happens if I Need to Cancel my Booking?

You are entitled to cancel your transfer by email or phone up to 14 days before your date of travel and receive a full refund. Please see our terms and conditions for full details of our refund policy.

  • What Happens in the Case of Severe Weather Conditions Such as Heavy Snowfall?

Although all of our vans and our partners’ vans are equipped with winter tyres and snow chains, there may be times when heavy snowfall causes delays or makes certain roads inaccessible. If this is the case, we will keep you updated at all times. It may mean that we have to pick you up or drop you off in a different location to the one you originally specified, but we will always do our very best to help you make alternative plans to reach your final destination.

  • What Happens if I Want to Book Several Different Transfers at Once?

This is very easy, just enter the details of your first transfer, then click ‘add leg’ and put in the details in of your next transfer. When you’re done you can review and pay for all your transfers at the same time.

  • What is the difference between a Shared Transfer and a Private Transfer?

If you book a shared or economy shared airport transfer to or from Geneva, you will be travelling in a minibus with people who have a similar flight time to you. It’s a lot cheaper than a private transfer but can involve a waiting time at the airport of up to 45 minutes, although it’s often less. A private transfer means that the minibus will be reserved for your party and will depart almost immediately after you arrive at the airport. Click HERE for more details.

  • When Do I Pay For My Transfer?

Whether you book online or over the phone, payment is always taken at the time of booking and your transfer will not be confirmed until your payment has been received.

  • I am Staying in Separate Accommodation to the Rest of my Group. Can I Add Another Destination to our Transfer?

Yes, of course. If you’re part of a group and you’re staying in different places, just add the address of any secondary destinations in the ‘notes’ section of the online booking form. You will not be charged for adding an extra destination if it’s in the same resort.

  • I Need to Pick up the Key to my Accommodation En Route. Do I Have to Pay Extra?

That’s no problem, we can help you pick up your keys free of charge. If you know you need to pick up or drop off a key en route, write it in the ‘notes’ section of our online booking form, along with where you need to pick the key up from, so we can allow time for it in our schedule.

Departing

  • How Do I Know What Time I’ll Be Picked Up?

You will receive an email and text message no later than 18:00 (French time) the day before your return transfer, containing details of your pick-up time. If you don’t receive an email or text, please contact us on +33 (0) 64 03 22 184 and we will let you know your pick-up time.

  • Do I Need A Ticket?

Your email confirmation is your ticket so please bring this with you when you travel. It also contains our contact details should you experience any problems or need to get in touch with us prior to your return transfer.

  • What if I’m Late Getting to my Departure Point?

Our driver will wait up to 5 minutes MAXIMUM in the case of a shared transfer and 10 minutes MAXIMUM in the case of a private transfer. It is your responsibility to be at the allocated place at the allocated time to make sure we can safely get you to the airport on time. If you know you’re going to be late, call us on +33 (0) 64 03 22 184 as soon as possible and we’ll see what we can do.
