Snowboarding and skiing in March is the best. There’s still plenty of snow on the slopes, the sun’s out, the evenings are getting longer and the crowds of February are a thing of the past. Alongside all these spring vibes, you’ll also find a while lot of music festivals if you decide to go skiing in March in les Portes du Soleil. Here’s our handy guide to what’s on.

RFM Winter Week // Avoriaz // 11th – 15th March
French radio station RFM takes over Avoriaz this week for a series of free open-air concerts in the centre of the resort. All week, daily radio shows will be broadcast live from Avoriaz, complete with audience participation and lots of fun activities for residents. The confirmed concert line-up features some huge European acts, including Cats on Trees, Slimane and Jérémy Frérot.

Rock the Pistes // Portes du Soleil // 17th – 23rd March
The original, institutional music festival that’s as much a celebration of les Portes du Soleil than it is music, Rock the Pistes invites you to explore its 650kms of slopes through France and Switzerland to see a collection of concerts (you’ve guessed it) right on the slopes. Rock the Pistes is always an unmissable experience, hosting a piste-side concert in a different resort every afternoon, while you can find plenty of intimate après and evening gigs down in the resorts themselves. This year the PDS is welcoming Ofenbach, Charlie Winston and Hyphen Hyphen. Plus, it’s all free! Although you will need a lift pass to get to the concerts on the slopes.

Spring Lounge Music Festival // Les Gets // 22nd – 31st March
After the success of Les Gets’ Lounge Music Festival in the summer, the resort welcomes a winter version for the first time in 2019. And don’t worry, it’s not all about lounge music, there will be lots of musicians and artists throughout the week to suit every taste, from hip hop to folk. Just like the summer version, the festival takes place in lots of different venues throughout the village, outdoor and indoor, giving it a laid back, relaxed vibe. The perfect event for March, you’ll enjoy some great après ski sessions as well as the chance to see some great international artists for free.

Snowboxx Festival // Avoriaz // 23rd – 30th March
One of the biggest events of the season, Snowboxx is a music festival that combines skiing, snowboarding, partying and great live music throughout the resort. From intimate gigs in Village Igloo to huge concerts on the main stage in the centre of town, Snowboxx sees Avoriaz transform into the ultimate festival-goers paradise. There will be plenty of fun activities on offer both on and off the slopes, from pond skims to bottomless brunches, while headlining acts include Craig David, Mike Skinner, Rudimental, Bez from the Happy Mondays and more! With ticket options ranging from day passes to the full week, Snowboxx has something for everyone.
